The Government has released the Plumbing approval process reform Discussion Paper and proposed amendments for consultation. This Discussion Paper gives consideration to potential reforms to the current plumbing approvals process in Tasmania specific to plumbing in new standalone Class 1a buildings (residential houses).
We encourage feedback on the scope of the proposed reform and seek comment on the effectiveness of the changes in process, and any potential issues with the proposal. To that end, this Discussion Paper asks various questions on the current process, what is being proposed, and whether there are additional measures required to protect consumer safety.
We invite feedback from plumbers, industry representatives, permit authorities and all other interested parties. Your input will be essential in identifying gaps, refining options, and ensuring any reforms reflect the Government’s commitment to reducing red tape.
The Plumbing approval process reform Discussion Paper is now available for you to read and provide comments, ideas and suggestions about the issues raised in it.
