Consumer, Building and Occupational Services (CBOS), is currently reviewing whether a new Determination that solely focuses on the licensing requirements for Building Surveyors and Permit Authorities should be created.
Presently the Occupational Licensing (Building Services) Determination contains legislative requirements for ten licence categories of Building Services Provider. These are broad in scope, with many licences having sub-classes of licence included, resulting in substantial information within one Determination. CBOS is proposing that a new Directors Determination is drafted with the sole focus on the licensing requirements for Building Surveyors and Permit Authorities, including the Code of Conduct for the former.
CBOS is seeking input from stakeholders to ensure that any proposed changes reflect industry and stakeholder needs. It is our intention to collaborate with the affected stakeholders directly to achieve this.
We are specifically seeking your views on the following issues:
- Should CBOS draft a new Directors Determination that solely focuses on the licensing requirements for Building Surveyors and Permit Authorities?
- Is the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors accreditation suitable as a proposed equivalent licensing pathway? For further information on this scheme visit AIBS Accreditation Scheme.
- Should CBOS create an additional sub-class of licence, Building Surveyor - Domestic?
