Scams Awareness Week 2025

Scams Awareness Week (25–29 August 2025) is here, and it's more important than ever to stay informed and vigilant.

In 2024, Tasmanians reported losing over $5 million to scams, with over 65% of losses affecting our most vulnerable community members.

This year, we’re focusing on empowering everyone to Stop. Check. Protect. — simple steps to help prevent falling victim to scams.

Free scam information sessions

Throughout the week, Consumer, Building and Occupational Services (CBOS) and Libraries Tasmania are hosting free information sessions across the state and online. These sessions will help you:

Identify common scam tactics
Recognise warning signs
Learn what to do if you or someone you know is targeted
