This course covers the knowledge and skills required to effectively understand the requirements of building in a Bushfire prone area, including the regulatory context, assessment and building materials.

This course will include :-

• An overview of recent bushfires, the damage caused and the post recovery
• An overview and understanding of regulatory context for building in Bushfire prone areas
• State Planning and building laws in relation to bushfire construction
• The bushfire construction requirements for a house in an area affected by a BAL
• How to assess a building site to determine the bushfire building requirements
• Construction requirements for building a deck
• Construction requirements for building a garage, carport or similar structure
• Improving the bushfire resistance of existing structures
